OMEGA LAUNCHES WORLD'S FIRST MASTER CHRONOMETER
OMEGA launched a new collection called the Globemaster just early 2015. What exactly is so special about this Globemaster?
The Globemaster is the world’s first Master Chronometer and each watch in the collection is certified through a series of independent tests. In order to attain the Master Chronometer, the watch must pass 8 criteria of the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) and also meet the standards established by the Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres (COSC). The METAS certification process includes testing of the watch and its movement in magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss.
What’s interesting about the watch is that there are eight stars on the watch’s caseback. The eight stars signify the 8 criteria the watch must pass to become a Master Chronometer and also represents the 8 most important precision records that OMEGA’s movement have set since the 1940s and 1950s. The 8 stars are the true symbol of OMEGA’s commitment to maintaining the highest level of precision.
